Shilpa Shetty (AFP photo)On day two of fashion week as the mood still remains lukewarm designer Tarun Tahiliani brings forth some classic styles. The tenth edition of fashion week might have lot to offer in terms of statistics and achievements of the Indian design fraternity but the actual rhythm of fashion is still to set in. Designer Tarun Tahiliani did offer some respite from an otherwise drab day with his classic drapes and of course the lady of the moment Shilpa Shetty gracing the ramp for him.
The show took off in a rather unusual manner with, the national anthem being played in the background. As it commanded the audience members stood in respect of the anthem. Then came the men dressed as monkeys trespassing the ramp.
The show began with flowy drapes in off whites accentuating the curves of the models just in the right places. The collection was a blend of luxurious Indian fashion known for its rich tradition, fused with a bit of spunk and a whole lot of energy. The accessories as always remained a marvel to watch. As designer Ritu Kumar remarked, "It’s always a treat to watch Tarun's show as he brings in both magic and glamour to the ramp."
Socialite Kehkashan Patel dressed in a tiny mini skirt was all praise for the show. She remarked, 'Sure I would want to be seen in such lovely dresses." Amongst the other glam brigade who were seen going gaga over the collection were Kalyani Chawla and Feroze Gujral. Looking resplendent as ever, Feroze Gujral remarked, "Its fun to come and watch fashion coming alive. I guess so many clothes on the ramp would give any woman worth her salt an absolute thrill." The models on the ramp were a bundle of energy but the final walk by Shilpa Shetty dressed in a gold drape dress with a crystal encrusted blouse set the ramp ablaze with a new found thrill. Shilpa Shetty standing tall on her recent achievements was a toast for all the shutter bugs. From her presence on the ramp to the walk down the venue lobby arena the media wild chase was enough to send any Hollywood star also in a state to tizzy. So we say three cheers to the lovely lady who had a magnetic presence and three cheers to the master of drape for his work of fine craftsmanship.
